ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hello and welcome to our first blog post! My name is Dr Rahil Qamar Siddiqui and I am one of the co-founders of Sidqam Ltd. I wanted to introduce myself to you and tell you a little about our company.
I hold a PhD in Health Informatics from the University of Manchester and have over 18 years’ experience in implementing health informatics standards across the UK, Europe and the US. I have worked as a consultant to NHS Digital and NHS England in architectural and data modelling, achieving interoperability using various standards such as FHIR, ISO 13606, SNOMED CT and HL7.
Our products are developed under the brand name of Direcht, which stands for Digital Records in Health Technology, a suite of cloud-hosted (SaaS) web-based and mobile applications. These digital healthcare management tools and electronic health records improve the recording, management and sharing of patient and administrative data.
Having previously worked with the NHS, I understand the need for systems to adapt with the changing needs of the health and care sector, as well as having the ability to interoperate with other systems. We want data to be made available at the right time, for the right recipient. Therefore, our systems are based on various healthcare interoperability standards approved for use in the NHS to quickly connect to existing systems.
One product that we have developed is Direcht Restore, the digital version of the full RESTORE2 paper tool, in partnership with Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG. The system helps provide early identification of deterioration in residents and suggests suitable escalation pathways that care staff may follow. I am very pleased to be involved in the delivery of such a life saving product, as detailed in our case study here:

The system can be implemented across care homes, nursing homes and residential & supported living. It is in active use in care homes in the southwest of England and the results being fed back are very motivating. Our aim is to help homes across the country to benefit from a high-quality system that adheres to clinical safety standards, as well as audit and record keeping requirements. This will help in ensuring that residents can be better cared for and that nursing and care staff feel empowered, with the right tools to help them perform their job with ease and accuracy.
